Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to analyze the emotional maturity of secondary school girls living in the city of qom based on the emotional environment of their family at home and the level of religiosity of their parents (N=4980). The research method was descriptive-correlational. The test sample was selection of 357 students who were studying during the year of 2016-2017 and this selection was based on multistage cluster random sampling. The tools used for analysis were three questionnaires based on emotional maturity questionnaire (Singh and Bahargawa, 1991), emotional environment of family namely: (Hill Burn, 1964), Parental Religiousness Questionnaire (Greenwind, 1998). Results: based on the results a strong correlation was seen between emotional maturity and the emotional environment of one`s family (P<0/01) as well as between emotional maturity and the level of religiosity of one`s parents (P<0/01). The change in the emotional environment of the family had 9/99 % effect emotional maturity whereas the level of religiosity had a 1/04 % effect. The overall results showed that emotional atmosphere at home and the religiosity of one`s parents are key factors leading to the emotional maturity of adolescent girls. Therefore, in order to promote the emotional development of children, effective training is required to provide a suitable emotional environment at home as well as to educated parents on religious matters and issues.

Abstract:

Background: The ability to create and maintain a satisfying relationship in the marital life requires an understanding of attachment styles, the family’, s emotional atmosphere, recognizing and expressing mutual emotions, and understanding and accepting the spouse’, s emotions. This study aimed to examine the role of family emotional atmosphere and attachment styles in predicting the alexithymia of married people. Methods: This predictive correlational study was conducted on a sample of married men and women with marital communication problems who were referred to counseling centers in District 2 of Tehran Municipality in 2021. The subjects included 400 married men and women who were selected by stratified proportional sampling. The data were collected by the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), the family emotional Climate Questionnaire, and the Adult Attachment Scale (AAS) and were analyzed using the correlation coefficient test and multiple regression analysis by SPSS software, version 22. Results: The results showed that secure and avoidant attachment styles were negatively correlated (r=0. 38) with alexithymia. Furthermore, anxious/ambivalent attachment style was positively correlated with alexithymia (r=0. 38). The family emotional atmosphere was negatively correlated with alexithymia (r=0. 68) (P<0. 01). Moreover, 46. 6% of the variances in alexithymia were explained by family emotional atmosphere and attachment styles (R 2 =0. 466). Conclusion: The findings revealed that alexithymia as a psychological construct could be predicted by the family’, s emotional atmosphere and the attachment styles of married people. Thus, providing training on social skills and emotional expression helps married people to identify positive and negative emotions and the inability to recognize their partner’, s feelings.

Abstract:

Purpose: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of the emotional atmosphere of the family and the style of emotional expression in the academic well-being of students with military parents. Method: 280 female students were selected by random sampling method, and the subjects were examined by Alfred B. Hillburn's family emotional atmosphere Questionnaire (1964), King and Ammons' emotional Expression Questionnaire (1990), and Pitrinen, Sweeney, and Falto's Academic Wellbeing Questionnaire (2014). Data were analyzed using statistical methods of correlation coefficient and stepwise multivariate regression by SPSS software version 23. Findings: The results show that the variables of family emotional atmosphere and emotional expression can explain 36. 4% of the variance of academic well-being. This finding indicates that with an increase of one standard deviation on the scores of emotional atmosphere of the family and expression of emotion, 0. 513 and 0. 155 standard deviations are added on the academic well-being scores, respectively. The emotional atmosphere of the family has a greater unique contribution in predicting the academic well-being of female students. Conclusion: Therefore, the emotional atmosphere of the family and the style of emotional expression play a role in the academic well-being of students with military parents

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional maturity, perceived social support and family emotional atmoshpere among female high school students. The statistical population of the study included all third grade high school students in Qom, in the academic year of 2016-2017. Out of this population, 357 female students were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling. The research instruments included family-specific questionnaire (Hill Burn, 1964), perceived social support by Zimm et al. (1988) and emotional maturity scale (Sink and Bahargawa, 1991). The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression analysis, and t-test for comparing the means of two independent groups. The findings showed a positive and significant correlation between emotional maturity, perceived social support and emotional atmosphere of the family (p<0. 01). Perceived social support and emotional atmosphere of the family could predict emotional maturity. Also the results revealed that only in the emotional maturity variable, there was a significant difference between the students of District 1 and 4, but in other variables, there was no significant difference between the two areas. The overall results of the research showed that the understanding of the positive interactions between parents and children affected the emotional development of most female adolescents. Therefore, it is suggested that effective education be given on the establishment of appropriate emotional relationships and the ways in which children can be supported by their parents in order to promote emotional growth and prevent educational problems for their children.

Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of emotional family atmosphere in drug use tendency based on the mediating role of negative affect. Method: A correlational research method was used for the conduct of this study by using structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the research included students of Farhangian Shahid Beheshti Campus of Mashhad in the academic year 2017-18. From among this population, the number of 400 students (311 male students and 89 female students) was selected as the participants of the study via random cluster sampling method. Addiction Tendency Questionnaire (Mirhesami, 2009), emotional family atmosphere Scale (Burn, 1964), and Positive and Negative Affect Scale (Watson et al., 1988) were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and structural simulation modeling in SPSS (version 18) and AMOS (version 21). Results: The results showed that negative affect has a mediating role in the relationship between emotional family atmosphere and drug use tendency. In addition, the fit indices are also placed in the domains. According to these points, the final model of the research enjoys a desired goodness of fit. Conclusion: Considering the role of emotional family atmosphere and negative affect in predicting addiction, it is possible to make use of the current findings to train families and conduct preventive interventions in educational centers through the conduct of appropriate workshops.
